The computer has become an indispensable tool in most human activities and mastering computer basics is nowadays considered as part of human literacy. This is an introductory course on computer and information technology for first-year students of management and engineering (6 ECTS). It has two goals: to provide students with fundamental knowledge on information theory, computer hardware and software and computer problem solving, and, through hands-on approach, teach them to use computers in documenting and presenting their work, retrieving information and communicating. Note, however, that this is not a self-sufficient web-based course. Materials available on-line are ment to be used as handouts for classical lectures. |
