The goal of the dissertation is to investigate various methods for recognition of signals. The main area of research is improved HMM( Hidden Markov Models) based method for Speech Recognition of Bulgarian language, which combined with some methods for Image Recognition could dramatically increase the recognition rate of Automatic Speech Recognition System. The research is based on adaptive quantization of probabilities molded by Gaussian distributions and averaging a set of HMMs trained for specific words or a relatively small set of Bulgarian allophones.
